BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

December 8, 2003

Reports

         A.     Thank you – Community, (including the Circleville Herald), Board of Education, Administration, Staff, Students

         B.      Property/Fleet Insurance expires January 1.  New quotations are not yet ready for Board action.  A special meeting will be required to approve a new carrier prior to the end of the year.

 

Approved

Ø            Minutes -    Work Session – November 3, 2003 and Regular Meeting - November 10, 2003

 

Ø         The financial reports, reconciliations, and investments as presented.

 

Ø         Accepting the following donations:

         -     $2,000 from anonymous donors to the Athletic Department for Girl’s Golf

         -     $500 from an anonymous donor to Girl’s Basketball

         -     $500 from Randy & Dorothy Haddox (Shawnee Antiques & Gallery) to the Art Club

         -     $50 from the Pickaway County Bicentennial Committee to Choir

 

Ø            The appropriation amendments as presented.

 

Ø            The Board renewing their annual membership in the Ohio School Boards Association and subscriptions to association publications for a fee of $3,585 for 2004.

 

Ø            Membership in the Circleville-Pickaway Chamber of Commerce for 2004.

 

Ø            The amended bylaws of the Ross County School Employees Insurance Consortium as presented.

 

Ø            A resolution determining to proceed with submitting to the electorate a 1% income tax for a continuing period of time to generate 1.8 million dollars per year for current operating expenses on March 2, 2004 as presented.

 

Ø            Authorizing the Treasurer to advertise for bids for one (1) or more new buses.

           

Ø            The following personnel as classified substitutes to be used on an as needed basis for the 2003-04 school year, pending B.C.I. clearance:

                           Kim Riffel

                           Elizabeth McFarland

                           Mark VanDette

 

Ø            Employing Kattie Murray on a supplemental contract for the 2003-04 school year as Assistant high school cheerleader advisor.

 

Ø            The following volunteers for the 2003-04 season at no cost to the Board of Education:

                           Robby Diehl                  Wrestling

                           David Johnson               Wrestling

Next Regular Meeting

Ø            Established January 12, 2004 at 6:30 P.M. at Pickaway Elementary School for the Budget Hearing on the FY2005 budget.
