BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
Regular Meeting – March 8, 2004 – Held at Washington Elementary School
Public Participation
A. Members of the public were invited to provide input to the Board on the issue of Vic Pontius’s, Juanita Cushing’s
and Eva Brunken’s reemployment in the District following their retirement per ORC 3307.353. No members of the
public were present to provide input.
Superintendent’s Report
A. Educational Report – Sandy Elsea, Principal, Washington Elementary
B. Levy Results – John Edgar encouraged the Board and staff not to become discouraged by the 27% positive vote.
In 1992-93 four tries were necessary for passage. The first try had only 31% support.
C. A petition for transfer of eight residences, located on Shawnee Trail Road, from the Logan Elm School District
to the Circleville School District was discussed. The signatures must be certified by the Board of Elections
and the petition sent to the State Board of Education. The State Board will schedule a hearing for all the
interested parties. The State Board shall either approve or disapprove the transfer prior to September 1.

Ø Declaring by this resolution and adopt by two-thirds vote of all its members that public water is available to
Pickaway Elementary and can only be acquired from a single source, Earnhart Hill Regional Water and Sewer District
and enter into an agreement with Earnhart Hill for service, to be paid in installments, at a fee not to exceed $115,000.
Ø Resolving to continue in the cooperative agreement with the Pickaway County Juvenile Court and the other county schools
to operate the Pickaway Alternative School for Success.
Ø A resolution of congratulations for the following coaches and teams who were crowned league and/or tournament
champions during the winter athletic season:
Varsity Boys’ Basketball (MSL Champions) Doug Stiverson

J.V. Boys’ Basketball (MSL champions) Sky Brusco

Ø Employing the following personnel on new administrative contracts effective August 1, 2004:

Mary Wentz Gifted Coordinator 190 days 2 years
Ø Employing Tim Hale on a one (1) year teaching contract and supplemental contracts as Head Varsity Football Coach and summer football conditioning for the 2004-05 school year.
Ø Employing Vincent M. Donnelly Sr. on a one (1) year supplemental contract for the 2003-04 school year, pending BCI clearance, as J.V. Baseball Coach.
Ø Tony Crist as a volunteer for varsity baseball at no cost to the Board of Education.
