Superintendent’s Report

A.            March 2 – Operating Levy – 1% Income Tax – District Newsletter, to be distributed in February, will explain the 1% income tax to residents.

 

Public Participation

A.            Public participation on the issue of the employment of Keitha Lane by the Logan Elm School District Board of Education.

 

B.            Karen Wiget – 1% Income Tax Levy – addressed the Board concerning the impact of additional taxes on the residents.  Encouraged the Board to cut expenditures and lobby legislation for a statewide new construction tax.

Ø                   Minutes of January 8, 2004-Organizational Meeting/Work Session & January 12, 2004–Budget Hearing/Regular Meeting

 

Ø                   The financial reports, reconciliations, and investments as presented.

 

Ø                   Accepting the following donations:

        - $20 from Maggie & Me to LEHS Art Club

        - Art supplies valued at $100 from Corrine Byers (Articus Studio) to McDowell ES

 

Ø                   The appropriation amendments as presented.

 

Ø                   Deleting IBM Typewriter #4608 from inventory.

 

Ø                   The following 2003-04 Purpose Statements and Budgets:

-               Key Club

-               McDowell Art

-               Web Page (Amendment)

 

Ø                   Entering into a contract with the Pickaway County Educational Service Center for the 2004-2005 school year for special services at a cost of $240,996.

 

Ø                   Adopting the school calendar for 2004-05 as presented.

 

Ø                   Awarding the purchase of (2) new 71 passenger school buses to City Center International who was the low bidder on bids opened and reviewed January 6, 2004 at a cost of $58,750 each.

 

Ø                   A field trip for four high school students to the State Business Professionals of America Competition in Columbus, Ohio, March 11-12, 2004.

 

Ø                   Accepting the following resignations:

                        Ty Park                          from his supplemental contracts as assistant High School football coach and summer football conditioning

                        Rick Brown                    from his supplemental contracts as assistant High School football coach and summer football conditioning

                        Heath Bennett              from his supplemental contracts as assistant High School football coach and summer football conditioning

                        Beth Wise                     3rd grade teacher at Pickaway effective at the end of the 2003-04 school year

                        Michael Woodward     4th grade teacher at Laurelville effective at the end of the 2003-04 school year for the purpose of retirement

                        John Edgar                    as Superintendent of Schools effective December 31, 2004 for the purpose of retirement
